Like the tree that supports the Philippines’ iconic Waling-waling orchid, we work alongside Filipino families from dumpsite and cemetery communities in the Philippines to ensure children follow their dreams and fulfill their potential in safe, healthy, and positive communities.
The Purple Centers Foundation is a nonprofit organization working with families in the garbage dumpsite and cemetery communities of the Philippines. We are headquartered in Tondo, Manila, and have centers in the various communities where we work. We offer holistic, integrated services to inspire and enable children to persevere through hardship, focus on their studies and experience a meaningful education and childhood.
We do this by partnering with parents, other organizations, and local government, while always working to refine our own approaches and teams.
Social workers and outreach staff ensure our programs are reaching the most needy. Once in our programs, they help safeguard children's right to an education.
We believe that education is the best way for children to get out of poverty. We strive to ensure children do not have to chose between school and their family's survival. Our educational programs are diverse, reflecting the various needs of children in the community.
Our program staff form an inter-disciplinary team to help children, families and communities cope with crises and disasters. Whether it is the loss of a family member of the loss of everything in a community-wide fire, our staff comes together to provide emergency assistance and recovery in a variety of ways.
How do teachers compete with hunger and malnutrition in the classroom? The Purple Centers helps address students' health and nutrition needs through feeding programs, health checkups, and medical services.
We work with you to ensure your gifts — whether you are offering time, money, expertise, or materials — achieves the greatest possible impact while also aligning with our mission, core values, strategic plan, and standards.
